Six screen-free activities that teach the core ideas behind coding: algorithms, sorting, binary, functions, debugging, and networks. Each has a teacher guide and a student worksheet, plus a binary reference and answer keys.

What’s inside

  • 6 unplugged activities (guide + worksheet each)
  • Algorithms, sorting, binary, functions, debugging, networks
  • A binary-conversion reference sheet
  • Answer keys

Why teachers love it

  • Perfect for day one or a no-devices day
  • Lowers the intimidation of coding
  • Answer keys included

How to use it in class

Pull this out on the first day of a computer science elective, before logins and laptops are sorted out. Hand students the algorithms card: partners write step-by-step directions for drawing a shape, then trade papers and follow the instructions exactly. It is a fast, low-stakes way to see who already thinks in sequences and who will need more scaffolding once you open real code. On a day the computer lab is double-booked, or when a substitute is covering your class, leave the binary or debugging set instead. The teacher guide walks a non-specialist through it, the worksheet is self-contained, and the answer key means nothing gets marked wrong by accident.
